A cartographic masterpiece of the 18th century, Cassini’s map of France is the first map of France to have been geometrically surveyed on a national scale.
An iconic historical document, comprising 181 sheets, it is also a monumental work of art measuring eleven metres wide by twelve metres high. Drawing in particular on a major deposit from the IGN to the National Archives, the exhibition traces the history of the map in a new light.
